Resource Specialist Certificate of Competence

Overview

The resource specialist certificate of competence program is designed for teachers who hold a valid special education credential and who have taught for three years, in both regular and special education classes. The certificate program is designed to develop specific skills, knowledge and performance competencies in the following essential areas:

  • Consultant and inclusion services
  • Coordination and implementation of services
  • Laws, regulations and other compliances
  • Staff development and in-service
  • Parent education

Admissions Requirements

  • Application form and fee
  • Orientation interview
  • Special Education Addendum (see form below)
  • Three letters of reference
  • Academic writing sample
  • Proctored writing sample
  • Verification of current negative TB test within the last 12 months
  • Certificate of clearance
  • Official transcripts of all institutions attended verifying BA/BS degree
  • Learning Handicapped and/or Serverely Handicapped Credential
  • Up to 9 current units may be transferred into the program
  • Letter of explanation if your GPA is under 3.0
