Master of Arts in Education: Math Education Emphasis - Elementary/Middle School

Overview

This master of arts degree is designed for teachers with multiple subject credentials. The elementary/middle school option offers a balance of courses from mathematics and mathematics education. It is intended to give teachers both content knowledge and an understanding of how to foster and maintain interest in mathematics among students with widely varying abilities and backgrounds.

Our Graduates

The courses in this program allow teachers to apply for and receive a supplementary authorization in mathematics. The courses also count toward the 32 units of mathematics needed for the subject matter authorization in mathematics. These authorizations allow multiple subject credentialed teachers to teach math through the ninth grade. In addition, successful graduates of this program have become math coaches or resource teachers at the school, district or county levels. A few graduates of the program are teaching elementary mathematics methods courses at the college level.
